Blog love shoutout

I have to give a quick shout out to my fellow blogger ( and fashionista!), Lisa, who wrote a glowing and fabulous post about us today. Can't wait for her to rock that necklace! She also has a knack for taking great photos.

Vintage Kick

Even though the Closet Shop, Swap & Style was an absolute success, I still had tons of left-over quality pieces to sell. This plus my current obsession with all things vintage and 70s, led me straight to fav local gem, re threads.  To the unseasoned shopper, it may not be worth a second look, but great vintage finds require time investment, a keen eye, and a willingness to dig and ask questions. "Oh, you DO have more sunglasses, oh, vintage Chloe'?" Um yes please!

So, while the goal was to streamline the over crowded space that is my current closet, I managed to score these (but not limited to!) awesome vintage pieces:

An Etienne Aigner vintage trench! A great trench is essential for spring, and a timeless piece for any wardrobe. Yay!

I'm not one for purchasing real snakeskin or alligator skin; I'm much more of a faux gal. However, I couldn't go wrong with this vintage, snakeskin clutch for $12.00.

My shopping trips are rarely complete without a piece of jewelry. These great great dangly's, $4.00, remind me of those designed by my very talented friend and fellow blogger, Kim @ Keller-Creative. Check out her Etsy Shop.

And last, channeling a great 70s vibe, is this fabulous leather vintage Anne Klein belt  for $8.50. Can't wait for this baby to finish off a look!

Styling- The Revival Tassel

So, I once promised a few notes on how I'd style this fabulous necklace we gave away to Lisa this week.
The great thing about this necklace is that it's very versatile, as are most of the fab Stella & Dot pieces. I'm feeling a lot of girly and tough combinations lately ( as demonstrated by my Astoria outfit last week), so I opted for this fabulous lace shift dress and tough Alexander McQueen lace up booties.

The votes are in

Well lovelies, the votes are in! The lucky lady will receive this awesome revival necklace. Valued at around $79, it's great for casual jean and t-wear, but also has a bit of bling for a glam night out. I'm extending the deadline until tomorrow at Midnight for all entries, and then I'll post the winner here, along with some notes on how I'd style it. ( oh, and if you're planning on coming to the swap/shop, we're having a drawing to win one as well!)

Closet shop, swap & style

The big event is this weekend. Lot's of fabulous Madison ladies have cleaned out their closets ( including moi), and there's lot's of goodies to be had. This past weekend I spent a good majority pricing, organizing and merchandising much of it in my home to get ready for the fashion festivities ( not to mention planning the delicious menu! Hello, tiramisu cake pops!)

With over 200 + pieces including shoes, bags, jewelry and scarves, our collective closet is going to be quite the shopping and style extravaganza. Below is a tiny, tiny preview of some of my favorite things. The better half had to keep reminding me that I was doing this to get rid of pieces in my closet, not add to it. Hee! From vintage to NWT,  I'm pretty sure there's a little something for everyone. Pics and more details to come as the event draws nearer! Anyone in the area is welcome to join in the fun!

  1. Spring is all about color, and this large hobo tote is no exception. Gorgeous blue, limited edition, Rafe for Target
  2. Great for a pop of animal print- giraffe Ralph Lauren shoes
  3. I am on the hunt for some great wedges this summer. Too bad these are too small- never worn leather Michael Kors
  4. Vintage black jacket. Great way to add some sophistication to any outfit
  5. Vintage looking, but not, leather belt with awesome western flair buckle
  6. French Connection top, never worn. Great summer shirt for going out, or layering underneath a jacket
  7. Lots of earthy 70-vibe pieces of jewelry, including this chunky turquoise necklace and red stone bracelet
  8. Sweet baby pearls and gold leaf necklace
  9. Rockin red wedges
  10. Stella & Dot ( of course!)

The "Astoria"

It's not a secret that perhaps I live to dress. My favorite outfit last week was inspired by the Astoria Necklace. This tough hardware was calling for sweet lady like balancing, so I paired it with this delicate ivory lace top ( actually a dress from Charlotte Russe) and a lovely petal ruffle skirt from Ann Taylor. The shoes, Pour La Victoire, are one of my favs and really helped pull it all together. Lady like with pastel pinks and purples, but tough with  silver platform. Sophisticated and girly, yet fierce at the same time

Astoria Necklace

Channeling Lauren Craig of Perpetually Chic, thought the outfit today deserved a post.
First, a focus on this awesome "Astoria Necklace" from JewelMint, which inspired the rest of the outfit (to come later today).

Target International Designer Collective!

Usually I keep things like this to myself, so that I can be sure to score the best deals, pieces, etc. But this is all about sharing the "nice," so why not? This weekend, Target is bringing back the BEST of it's international designers for spring! Can't wait to see all the goodies that will be in store!

something nice- Starbucks Petites!

I live for dessert. So, I am so excited about Starbucks new Petites! The perfect bite size of "nice," and a chic French name to boot, I can't wait to try both the cake pops and the red velvet whoopie pies! YUM! (Plus this weekend, they're free with a coffee purchase in the afternoon.) This is just all kinds of "nice!"

Well, since my flowers didn't seem to abate the snowy blizzard I experienced this morning, I thought I would share what's coming for spring.... juicy pops of color! Check out the new collections at ShopBop.

FREE Stella & Dot- Giveaway!

Hi Friends. I heart Stella & Dot. The pieces are SOOO awesome, and I want to spread the love and help someone feel just a bit more fabulous for, you guessed it, free! You want in? All you have to do is one of the following within the next week, and I'll send the lucky winner a free piece:
  • Become a follower of this blog (Kim is lonely down there)
  • "Like" me on Facebook
  • Leave a comment here
Tell me what you'd like, perhaps how you'd style it, and well, you just might get it. I'll announce the winner here sometime next week. Good luck. Oh, and if you want to do all three, well, that may increase your chances!

I am so sick of this winter I can hardly take it. With all the spring glossies (fatter than ever I might add) showcasing the fabulosity of spring with fresh wedges, color and crisp whites, I couldn't take it any longer.... so I went out and bought some freshly cut tulips. Fresh, white, crisp and green. Now if only it would STOP snowing!

Oscar Glamour

Okay, so this is admittedly old news by now, but what good is a blog on style without a little Oscar commentary, right? That's why we'll keep it simple. Who missed and who impressed. I will add, however, that there's been some criticism about the glamour being on the low side this year. Personally, I am a fan of all this understated elegance we're seeing lately.

Who Missed: Amy Adams

Don't get us wrong. We LOVE Amy Adams, and this L'Wren Scott dress was to die for, however, the hair and the necklace... um, not so much. The dress is enough sparkle on it's own and same goes for the necklace (gorgeous by itself, but too much with the dress).  The hair pulled back, and some large emerald or sapphire earrings would have done much to amp up the wow and sophistication factor. With a dress like that, it needs to stand on it's own.

Who Impressed: Anne Hathaway

Out of her numerous wardrobe changes, our favorite look was Anne's Archival Valentino. Radiating in this red gown with luscious train, she couldn't have looked more happy and excited to be there. And, she looked comfortable in it. Which, we can't say of of everyone else.

What do you guys think?
